Shay Murtagh Precast Senior Football Championship, Sunday 25th June

Tyrrellspass v Killucan 0-12 to –09

We opened our 2023 senior championship campaign with a hard fought 3 point victory against Killucan, in a scoreline of 0-12 to 0-09, played in dry, but blustery conditions on Sunday evening at cusack Park. After playing with the wind in the first half, we led 0-06 to 0-03 at half time. It remained to be seen if this would be enough facing into that stuff breeze blowing from the Dunnes Stores end of the ground. However, fear not, as our defence held firm against everything a gallant killucan team threw at us and with the forwards notching up a further 6 points to add to our tally , we held on and deservedly won out. Team and scorers as follows. Joe Hyland, Stephen Quinn, Cormac Monaghan, Jamie Corcoran, Aaron O'Brien, Conor Slevin Jamie Gonoud Adam Flanagan, David Lynam, Keith Hamilton, Ger Egan Tommy Ryan, Peter Pierson, Dean McNicholas, Val Sizychas, James Quinn, Sean Deegan, Chris Daly, Peter Clarke, Denis Glennon, Kieran Geraghty, Evan Connell , David Glennon, Conor Gavigan, Conall Dunne, Daire Earley, Joe Adegbore, Sean Gavigan, Gerard O'Toole, , Eoin O'Reilly . Subs -Dennis Glennon for David Lynam, Kieran Geraghty for Keith Hamilton, Evan Connell for Peter Pierson, Peter Clarke for Tommy Ryan, David Glennon for Adam Flanagan

Scores-G Egan 0-4, D McNicholas 0-3, T Ryan 0-2, D Lynam 0-1, V Sizychas 0-1, E Connell 0-1

Well done to all involved and we now move on to round 2 in a fortnight, when Caulry will provide the opposition. Best wishes to Conor Slevin, who l picked up a nasty, but accidental, knock to the head nearing the end of the game. It was good to see both players involved getting back on their feet after receiving careful treatment from both medical teams. #markwrighttotalhealthpharmacy
