The club reached its first Junior Football Final in 1970 but lost out to our parish neighbours St.Malachy's by a single goal on a scoreline of 2-06 to 3-06.
In 1973 the club landed its first championship when we beat Milltown in the Junior Final.
An Intermediate final was reached in 1975 but once again St.Malachy's proved too strong.
In 1976 a major landmark in the clubs history was acheived when the club purchased our present playing field and development work soon commenced. This culminated with the official opening of the grounds in 1980, by the late Michael O Hehir.
The club acheived a unique double in 1983 when we won the Intermediate Championship and Senior League titles. St.Paul's being defeated in the championship and The Downs in the league.
We had to wait for another eight years to land a championship title when we defeated Mullingar Shamrock's in the '91 Intermediate Final. This was to be a major turning point for the club as we established our senior status in Westmeath Football.
The club contested it's first Senior Final in 1994 but the very experienced Mullingar Shamrock's proved too strong on the day and they went on to take the title.
In 1997 the Tyrrellspass second team won the Junior Football Championship when we defeated Multy/Street in the final.
The Senior Final was reached again for the second time in the club's history in 1999 and this time their was to be no mistake as we beat Athlone by 2-06 to 1-07 to give the "Tidy Town" its first ever Senior title. This proved to be a good period for the club as we made the final for 2000 and 2001,loosing out to Mullingar Shamrock's and Garycastle respectively.
In 2005 we won the Under 21 13 a-side Championship and this provided a huge lift to the club and we finally landed our second Senior Football Championship in 2006 when we overcame Castledaly after a replay. In 2007 Tyrrellspass put back to back titles together when we took our third senior title with a win over Mullingar Shamrocks.
2007 will also be remembered for our great run in our bid to become the first Westmeath team to win a Leinster Football Club title.Having lost out in the semi-final in 2006 to eventual winners Moorefield(Kildare) we went one step forward to reach the final in 2007.Unfortunately we lost out on the day to St.Vincent's(Dublin).Nevertheless the club can be very proud of its success to date.
The following years were not so fruitful for Tyrrellspass but we maintained some level of consistency by reaching the quarter finals and semi finals of the Championship. In January 2011 We played Mullingar Shamrocks in the final of the 2010 Feis Cup and emerged victorious and hoped this victory would set the tone for the year to come. We reached the semi final of the Championship before losing out to eventual All Ireland title contenders Garrycastle.
2012 also proved to be beyond us in the senior championship, losing out in the quarter final. The club was boosted by a fantastic showing in the Under 21 13 a-side Championship. The team amassed some very fine victories in the run in and defeated Castledaly in the final 4-10 to 1-05 in a replay afeter the original final was abandoned due to fog. It was a fitting end to 2012 and we hope it now sets the scene for 2013
