County final here we come....

We were victorious over Athlone last Sunday in the Senior championship semi final. The game started slow for Tyrrellspass and we were down 6 points to 2 at the water break. This came at a vital time as it looked like Athlone were controlling the game. After the break we started getting into the game and with Athlone consistently fouling there was not better man than Ger Egan to convert the frees and we went into half time trailing by 2 point, Tyrrellspass 5 points - Athlone 7. We pushed up in the second half with the aid of a strong wind and dominated in all areas with fine scores coming from Dean McNicholas and sub Kieran Geraghty who had a huge impacted when brought onto the field at half time. We led 12 points to 10 at the water interval. Tyrrellspass controlled the second half with fine points coming from Adam Flanagan,Nigel Harte and David Glennon and a excellent long range point from Dean. Our defense held well with Denis Glennon making great breaks from defense when the pressure was on. We finished the game strong and won on a scoreline of Tyrrellspass 16 points, Athlone 13. Congrats to all the team and management, lets bring The Flanagan Cup back to the village on the 27th of September.
